Born in Wadowice, Poland in 1954.
MS – 1979, PhD – 1984 and habilitation – 1991 at the Cracow University of Technology. Professor’s title granted by the President of the Republic of Poland – 2003. Full professor’s position in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Electronics, AGH University of Science and Technology granted by the Ministry of Education of Poland – 2006.
Author and co-author of more then 180 books, papers and conference contributions, in particular of the book “Foundation of Genetic Global Optimization” (Springer 2007).
Recent research areas: genetic and memetic algorithms in solving continuous global optimization problems, computing multi-agent systems, adaptive algorithms of solving direct and inverse problems for PDEs. Former research: modeling of the blood flow in arteries, modeling of nonlinear flow in porous media.
