The Department of Computer Science officially joins TOTEM experiment

RSS

It is with pleasure that we announce that the Department of Computer Science has now officially joined the TOTEM experiment  (TOTal Elastic and diffractive cross section Measurement) led by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The Department of Computer Science was able to gain the status of the official partner institution as its employees and students were appreciated by the project management for their ongoing support and contribution to the research. TOTEM  is one of the seven detector experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The detector aims at measurement of total cross section, elastic scattering, and diffractive processes. TOTEM experiment began in 2004. In 2012, already 143 scientists from 9 institutes in 7 countries were actively involved in it. The Department of Computer Science has mainly contributed to the development and implementation of modern information systems, vital to the experiment.
